Description A natural earth tone colored portrait of a young woman in watercolor on card. This piece is unframed and signed lower right quadrant J.Sorolla B. hand written on back: “Exhibited at Saint Louis Art Museum ca 1911.”

Condition The condition is very good to excellent for its age with the only noticed exception of the lower left corner where the card stock has minor loss. The colors are beautiful allowing the subject a very natural look.

Acquired in the 1990s from the Royce Collection, directly from Mrs. Royce, St. Louis, MO. This piece was said to be Bequeathed from late grandfather of Mrs. Royce, who purchased this piece directly from the artist. In 1909 and Early in 1911, Sorolla visited the United States for a second time, and exhibited 152 new paintings at the Saint Louis Art Museum. It was believed to be xhibited at the St. Louis Art Museum ca. 1911 as handwritten on the back. This has not been substantiated.
